It's not an argument from silence. It is a legitimate request. Show me where Jesus made as big a deal of it as many "religious" people do today. Show me where Jesus made it a test for fellowship. Show me where Jesus attached salvific significance to it.
Once again, everyone has a right to hold that opinion, but to state that it is the ONLY position, is a huge problem AND bigotted, IMO.
