I need your prayers for healing!
On Tuesday, April 6, I left work early not feeling very well. When I got home I immediately went to bed, feeling very weak all day. An hour later, when my wife came home and came to check on me, I could not move from the neck down. My arms and legs were paralyzed.
The paramedics took me to an ER in Akron that had a trauma center, assuming I had suffered a stroke of some kind. I spent three days in ICU, then was transferred to University Hospitals in Cleveland. I was released this past Tuesday to continue my recovery at home.
After several MRIs, CT scans, lumbar punctures, Xrays, etc., the doctors have ruled out many conditions (MS, stroke, meningitis, etc.) but are hesitant to settle on one diagnosis. But they all seem to agree that it looks like I had what's called a "transverse myelitis." I've regained most of the use of my arms and hands, though fine motor function in my hands and fingers is a struggle (like holding a pen and writing). My legs are my biggest challenge right now, with my walking severely impaired. I've been told that my gait will probably be permanently altered.
I've already been told that my recovery rate is well ahead of the curve for people who have gone through what I have. I've told them it's because of the hundreds of people I KNOW have been praying for me. I just wanted to ask of my brothers and sisters on AFF that you would also keep me in your prayers. I'll be off work for probably at least two months (full pay though, thank the Lord) while I work through physical therapy and regain strength in my legs.
Please mention my name as you pray, and ask Jesus to restore me. I love and appreciate you all.
God bless,
~ Jim Horvath
