An Uncommitted God

What is in me? What really lies in the deepest caverns of my spirit? Past the surface, the superficial, and the obvious? What are my true passions, beyond what I declare them to be with my mouth? What are my deepest and most soul-felt longings?

There is a level a man can live on that truly believes in God. A dimension he can remain and even see the miraculous hand of the Almighty supply what only the divine can. Yet he has planted himself in a field where God cannot commit to him.

John 2:24-25
"Jesus did not commit himself unto them... for he knew what was in man."

If my preaching demands only a "move of God" I am calling for an uncommitted God. If I work the Word for a a public response alone I am crying out for a God to be unfaithful. If I seek a sign only, I give God no choice but to be unloyal. I am calling on an uncommitted God....because of what is in ME!

If my passion is relationship. He will be loyal!
If IN ME there is a longing for a nearness with Him above all else, He WILL BE steadfast.
If my devotion is to intimacy with God before it is pleasing man, preaching with oratorical perfection, or making my point alone, the Almighty becomes devoted to me!

I need a God who is commited!! I need a God who is stanchly on my side! I need an unswerving and unwavering Tower in the midst of my life!

The only question to ask then is, WHAT IS IN ME? For it is what resides in me... my truest motives, my honest longings... that will determine His COMMITTMENT to earthen vessel.

God knows you. In this knowing, he determines his commitment to you.

Could it be that David knew that offering sacrifices had become such a religious, look-at-us, ceremonial rite of nothingness to man? It was not about relationship with God any more and the risk of God's despising the sacrifice was upon man because of the condition of the heart of those offering the sacrifice?

King David falls on his face, pounding the ground with his fists, cryng out to the God of Israel...
IF IT WERE SACRIFICE YOU REALLY DESIRED I WOULD DO IT!!! But it's not that!!! You want what you have always wanted... a heart that is in contrition... a spirit that is willfully broken!!! A passion to step into the presence of the Almighty and commune with the I AM!! This is what you desire o God!!!

And God committed himself to David.... because of what was in him.

It is not so much what we do that calls for God's committment to us...but it is our fervent obsession and thirst to be in sweet relationship with Him.

I need a committed God; yet, God needs committed people who want more than the fire to fall on the sacrifice. They long to embrace the One who sends the dilluge of fire!
