WHY are there so many "surprise" divorces in the church community, well actually in leadership?
is it because we can't be transparent in a safe environment without being pushed out of the ranks?

If one is a pastor I could see this as possibly necessary. All sources of income and assets are explored. Even one's future pension.

That's the nature of the beast.

One thing I learned during mine is you will have to be willing to negotiate and give up major concessions to keep or get what is most important.

To me, seeing my kids and being part of their lives most or even half of the week was most important and it was worth the cost

My future security (pension) was not going to be on the table either.

Probably needs some understanding of the income agreement with the church.

If this is a pastor and wife or anyone in leadership who received a salary then I can see it being necessary.

Anytime you have a couple who keep their private lives private, a divorce is going to come as a surprise.

Care to elaborate on your last comment?
