Good grief. I still can't get over hearing things like this.
I couldn't wait until I was old enough to shave my legs. And I have the scars to prove it!! I think I was 13 when my mom allowed me to wear pantyhose, finally.

Re: Beards?
There were some women in the UPCI church I was raised in that did not shave their legs.

Quite a few in a church I went to, too. I heard rumors that it was preached against, but I never heard it across the pulpit and didn't get in trouble for shaving, myself.
Cindy, the idea was that if women shouldn't cut their hair, that should include eyebrows and legs, too.

Re: Beards?
I've never grown a beard or a mustache but I have no problem with people having them. I think that the prohibition of beards etc is ridiculous.
If I go a few days without shaving it starts to drive me crazy. It's just what I'm used to so I stay with it.

Re: Beards?
I preached for men years ago that preached against the women shaving their legs and armpits. One place I preached in KY - the Pastor (Independent) took his teenage daughter (who was a GREAT organist) off the organ because "she went to that UPC camp and got when them worldly UPC girls and they got her to shave her legs and under her arms and I PREACH AGAINST CUTTING HAIR!"

Same here. I'll go 3-4 days to grow some scruff, except I shave above my upper lip every other day. Then, I'll shave all of it off and start over again. Never thought I'd like it, but I do...

Mary, I guess that makes sense to some people. But, I just don't get it.

I don't get it either. Definitely NOT something I ever had a conviction against. And yes, they were grown women.
