Re: Liberals Always Need Someone to Hate

Why does Sarah make people uncomfortable? Because she's a folksy, down to earth, regular person. Our culture predisposes us to believe that a person has to be an "intellectual" to be so powerful and to garner our respect. I respect anyone who grew up in a remote part of the country, went to a small, unknown college, became a mayor of a little town, then a Governor of a state. Under her leadership she took on corruption in the state capital, took on the oil companies in Alaska and was able to get a $1500 per citizen royalty check from them for the natural resources they were profiting from. Let's see... Barack Obama went to an Ivy League school, was a community organizer, was connected with one of the most radical, dangerous terrorists in US history, attended Trinity Church of Christ for 20 years and "Amened" Jeremiah Wright's racist and conspiratorial rants, became a US Senator for two years without any significant legislation created by him, ran for President of the US, was a good teleprompter reader, had a nice smile, was telegenic, had a pretty wife and beautiful daughters, and happened to be the Democratic candidate in Sept 2008 when the bottom fell out of the market.

I don't get the admiration for the one under the circumstances and the disdain for the other by comparison. So she doesn't read the NY Times---big deal.

Comparing Palin to Obama is a bit disingenuous considering many of Palin's detractors didn't vote for Obama.

And yes, having intellect and the gift to articulate that intellect is a requisite for the biggest "CEO" position in the country. It is what it is.

Personally, I find conservatives demonizing of Barack Obama to be a bit silly. Most don't critique Palin for being evil, but I find so many that describe Obama in terms of evil. They are easy victims to propaganda.

I have seen this too-- far more often than I have seen in regards to Palin.

Many people-- Republican and Democrat-- don't like Palin.

They seem to have different reasons for it whenever I ask them. Many Republicans I have asked about her seem to think that she gives Republicans a bad name and wish for her to go away. They don't like her as the "face" of the Republican party-- despite how attractive she really is.

Most people I have spoken with don't use the word hate and Palin in the same sentence-- a few, but not most.

However, there are MANY who HATE President Obama and they use the "HATE" word in describing his policies. The disdain for his policies often lead many of the people I have spoken with to reflect that kind of hatred towards him as they present their views.

Of course, I have come across some people who hate him for "other" reasons more basic than his politics, but these folks would fall into another category all together.

Still to paint the Democrats as the party of haters by holding up their criticisms of Palin is disengenious when there are so many Republicans who don't care two cents for her either.

Alcohol and Palin are both intoxicating. Too much alcohol effects your judgment destroys your liver. The side effects of too much Palin vary from mild anal pain and irritation to temporary insanity.
