Re: Calling Those with a Knack for Decorating...
Okay, so I was thinking about the gray, and I kept thinking about a fabric I saw at Jo-Ann's, and it hit me-- yellow and gray. THIS FABRIC to recover my headboard:
And that berry color on the media hutch from ana-white? I liked that color anyway, so it's the perfect pop of color! In the hutch, and in a bolster pillow for the bed, and maybe in some flowers on the dresser. (Providing I can find flowers that color! )
I attached a pic of my sketch--ignore the weird chairs, both shape and color--apparently I can't draw chairs. Also ignore the *picture frames* to the left of the door. Just thinking on paper.

I am SO not an artist.
So here are some of the components, or at least the inspiration pieces as I start shopping: (more in the next post)

Mirror - sunburst mirror.jpg
Marigold Toile Quilt - yellow toile quilt.jpg

Re: Calling Those with a Knack for Decorating...
I also love this chair (to go in the place of the brownish blobs on my drawing), but it might be too much yellow...I'm not sure:

And these are the throw pillows:

If you hate it, you can tell me.

Re: Calling Those with a Knack for Decorating...
WHY did I not think of yellow before? I LOVE yellow? Oh, yes--I remember--Jeff doesn't like yellow.
But I'm thinking in small doses throughout ["throughout" doesn't sound like small doses....], it'll be alright. Maybe.
He saw the drawing, and said, "Yellow???" in that incredulous tone he uses to ask questions when he disapproves, and I said, "You have to give me carte blanche with this--I can do it." He looked doubtful actually, because he's remembering the time that I painted the hallway a tigger orange and put a white racing stripe horizontally down the middle of the hall. Also, there was the time that I tried to trim a hedge into a bonsai-tree shape and ended up instead with an oddly bifurcated shrub. It was a rental house, and when we moved, I tried to pull the separated shrub back into one by wrapping wire around the two middle branches. It didn't work, and the owner gasped in horror when she saw it. These things make him doubt me.

I love it!!!!!
And call it gold, or some fancy color name instead of yellow, maybe he'll forget it's yellow.

I love everything, but you are right, I would re-think the chair. It seems to compete with everything else. I would go with a solid or smaller print and Scotchgard it! Love it with the berry furniture. Black stain would be totally awesome too.
Love the pillows and bedding!!!!
I don't have to ask my husband about anything, he's color blind. Perfect! LOL! So we come to a stop light and he says, "Is that light red?" I say, "Yes, and it's following you." LOL!

I know this room is sage green (my favorite), but I was noticing the "slipper" chairs. Wouldn't that be beautiful in yellow? I love "slipper" chairs!

We have low ceilings too, which is kind of disappointing. They framed the house and then put in the sub-floor and the hardwood flooring. My husband doesn't know why they did it that way. It is so hot here in the summer that, instead of leaving a plain, painted ceiling, we installed ceiling tiles for added insulation. Boy, what a job! Our electric bill, for our nine room home, never exceeds $150 in August. So, I am happy we did the ceilings.

Bratti,
I have to keep posting stuff I like before your project is over and the thread dies!!! LOL!
I love this ceiling and room. Although, I'd take some of the junk off the walls. Too much random stuff for me.
