Never feel remorse for what you have thought about your wife; she has thought much worse things about you. ~Jean Rostand, Le Mariage, 1927

Re: Wedding rings

I once sat under a pastor that wouldn't let me wear my class ring at or outside of the church. I wore it anyways outside of church. When he found out, I was sat down for disrespecting authority. What I didn't understand is, is that my parents gave me permission to purchase and wear the ring....but the pastor thought that his word was going to trump my parents authority. Sometimes, I think pastors get power hungry. It's just too much..

So do these clothesline preachers preach you need to buy your clothing at walmart?

Not Walmart, they're too expensive ..... Try Goodwill!!!

Never criticize your wife's faults because without them she probably would have found a much better husband. -Source unknown

He has the right to do that... He did not kick you out of church he just did not let you on the platform. I hope you understand what happened now. I think if your parents did not agree with you not being allowed to wear the ring they should of let him know or left the church rather then him "finding out". This is the kind of things that breed rebellion in kids.

Re: Wedding rings

I guess this doesn't count.....

Lu 15:22* But the father said to his servants, Bring forth the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet:

And I know about the theory that it was the ring of authority, but no where in this scripture does it say anything about "ring of authority." It says no more than just "RING"!

And what about that "BEST ROBE"! Sounds a little overdressed according to what some have posted here.

The theroy makes sense because in the parable the king was restoring him to royalty after he walked away from it.

Do we base Doctrine on theory or on scripture?
