all the liberals need to pop out so we can get some facial hair back in the pull pit, and let men look like me again.

DKB removed the ban, but the constituents continue to dance around the golden calf.

There never was a constituent ban.

There had been a restriction of no facial hair on the platform at General Conference... I think that is removed. It was a board decision though, not an arbitrary one by DKB.

pastors still openly state they will not allow a man with facial hair behind their pullpit... My church is one of them

when we had a area conference last year, my pastor asked me to shave it cause it is not looked upon nicely by other men.

Re: DKB

I'll tell you, for some the beard thing was real big. Several years ago I saw a quite heavily bearded man at men's conference. A lot of folks were giving him sideways glances as he worshipped with the rest of us. I found myself close to him and introduced myself. We talked a bit (he was visiting with a pastor friend) and I mentioned he looked good in his Kenny Rodgers style beard. I told him I had one for several years and still grow one from time to time.

About 20 minutes later the pastor friend he came with asked me to step outside... Apparently, the breaded brother mentioned that I said "something" about his beard. This pastor assumed it was NEGATIVE - and rightly so I guess, from all the looks the guy was getting. He got quite angry and gave me the 'what for" concerning my treatment of bearded folk, saying "I know he is not like us, but the Lord is working on him!"

Finally, when I got an word in edgewise I assured him I was totally pro-beard, and intentionally said nice things to the man about the same, because it was obvious most people were treating him like he had no right to worship with hair on his face.

The pastor was very confused for a minute - like "how could I have been so wrong?" I assured him he was wrong and we could ask his friend if that was necessary... At that point he gave me a big hug and apologized!

Just saying how messed up the thinking was (and still is to some extent).

I know you are right, and my pastor does similar... not an absolute ban, but "we don't want to offend other churches".
