Here's one that I strongly disagree with with in doctrine.
Pastor James Lee Beall ,who used to pastor the Bethesda Missionary Temple in Detroit ,Michigan.I read a book on pastoring by him and that man had some great insight on Sheperding-Pastoring.

You are probably referrring to "Understanding God and His Covenants". Many churches use it as a cachetism for teaching new converts. It is a course at Christ Church. I was not terribly impressed with the book myself. In my opinion it had as many leaps of logic in it as I complain about in Old Time Oneness Pentecostal literature, doctrine, and sermons.

About thirty years ago I bought two James Beal books that I thought were very good. I wish I could find them and read them again. One was about shepherding and probably the one you are referring to. He spoke once at the World Of Penteost around 1990 and I thought he was great. Some people found him boring bcause he was not an animated speaker but it was great.
