BroJoe -
I found your church website by googling your Pastor, I really like that you have scheduled pre-service prayer. It makes a huge difference in the service.

Is there anyone who is Apostolic anymore?

You know Joe... I see all of us doing backflips to answer your question based on what we consider 'apostolic' or how WE believe you define it...

So release us Joe and tell us, when you asked the above question... EXACTLY what were you asking?... Please give us YOUR definition of Apostolic.

I umm..never asked that question? I'm not the op of this thread.

I do not have time to get into a detailed explanation. But Acts 2 sums up what apostolic is.

Acts 2:38, 1 God, and holiness.

Thanks Joe.. I think sometimes we have buzz words that each of us sees a different way... or that trigger certain reactions or even defenses...

I too think of it in an Acts 2:38 way... but am willing to accept others definations as right for them.

Peace to you Bro. Joe.

Acts 2:38, 1 God, and holiness.
Among Apostolics there are differences of opinion about
Acts 2:38
1 God
and
holiness

For example:

I see Acts 2:38 as:
1. get saved
2. get baptized
3. get baptized in the Holy Ghost

I see 1 God as:
we worship one God who has revealed himself as Father, Son, and Holy Ghost without wrangling about persons, personas, personalities, offices, roles, masks, manifestations, offices or kenoomas.

I see holiness as:
Jesus Christ (YHWH_m'kaddesh, the Lord our holiness/sanctification) living in me and imputing and imparting God's holiness to me. I have God's holiness which makes me holy enough to make it. Positionally, I am as holy in the sight of God as His Son Jesus Christ is. I have a duty to pursue/follow holiness or to perfect/grow/mature in holiness by allowing Him to develop in me the fruit of the Spirit and to say "no" to the flesh and to say "yes" to the Spirit (ref Hebrews 12:14; 2 Corinthians 7:1; Galatians 5:16-26; Ephesians 4:22-24)

Re: Is there anyone who is Apostolic anymore?

If I follow my pastor as he follows Christ, when he strays from the Word I do not have to follow what he says.

Quite a few years ago in his Sunday night sermon our ALJC pastor said, "The Bible says that a man is supposed to be clean shaven." I spoke out and said, "I'd like for him to show me that Scripture (or something like that)." My wife grabbed my arm and gave me "that look." Husbands and children know what "that look" is. Either the pastor did not hear me or he chose to ignore me and there was no further incident. When we left there after service that night we never came back. That was in the late 1970's. I have not been part of a local OP congregation since.

I would agree with everything you just stated.

Absolutely. In fact we have Saturday night prayer from 7-8pm for everyone. If we don't pray, we can't expect a move of God.

Amen. Those in ministry are encouraged to come to pre service prayer.
