Yep they are not stupid. Strawmen. I have meals and interactions with folks from every walk of life. Folks say I am friendly(I hope I am)? But I would never in a million years have a Trinitarian on our platform or give them the false impression they are saved believing a lie.
Well, that's a horse of a different color.
So, you eat with Trinitarians and are friendly to them, but wouldn't have them on your platform - I have no issue with that at all.
My initial impression of your usage of the term "fellowship" was that you wouldn't even talk with them.
Thanks for the clarification.

My Dad pastored a large Charismatic church we had a wonderful relationship. I respected him and he I. I have never knowing disrespected a denominaal preacher I was raised better than that. Friendship and fellowship is NOT the same in my book.

Again, I agree. Thanks for the further explanation.

Well, I appologize to you for calling you out. I assumed your being around long enough on these boards meant you knew what was meant by the termanology.
I appreciate your clairity....

No, not that part of it!
I agree that a person of principle can "fellowship" (and by that, I mean being friendly toward and sharing a meal from time to time) with those who do not agree with his or her stance, but they shouldn't PRETEND to agree with the other person at the risk of compromising their own principles.
Nor should they endorse that person in a manner that would cause others to question their viewpoints, such as having someone from another faith sit on the platform in full fellowship (and by that, I mean being involved in a position of leadership, influence, or authority) because that would indicate to the congregation and any other observers that one was supporting an opposing viewpoint.
Lengthy, but hopefully, I made myself clear.

Thank you Mike for clearing that up for me, not that you had to
I to agree with Elder up to that point.

No problem!
Frankly, that's why I resigned the church I was pastoring and turned in my UPC license.......just couldn't agree with the ideaology any more......hard for me to pretend to be excited about something that I'm not.....or to pretend to agree with something that I don't.
