What I mean is we grow and understand why we do the things that we do. Example: one gets the joy of being Baptized into Christ and the body of believers (Jesus Name or FSHG), instead of being rushed into a pool of water right after making a confession of faith or having to stand at the altar and be screamed at by Sister and Brother I know better than you and being fearful of not being able to receive the gift of the Holy Ghost and dying on the way home from Church. I have seen more people just get the Holy Ghost with a simple question of have you received the Holy Ghost since you believed. This is without all the crazyness of the altar mayhem.
For me this maturity starts with the teaching on the beauty of the Cross and Christ and His perfect sacrifice and the blood that was spilt. One of the best teaching I ever heard was on the 7 places that Christ bled and the importance in the believers life and this from an Assembly of God church. This same pastor taught on the Jewish Wedding feast. Those are the things that make me want to know more and spark the desire in me to dig beyond what I can see.
When I left my old church I would always feel beat down like I could never do anything right and I was always waiting for God to smote me.

Luke 10:27
27 So he answered and said, “ ‘You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind,’ and ‘your neighbor as yourself.’” (NKJV)
