All I know is when I scored high on the ASVAB they told me I was TOO SMART to be in the Army.

You have to be at least 6 foot tall to be in the coast guard.... that way you can walk to shore if your ship sinks.

My Marine son had great admiration for the Army's special forces and dedicated infantry soldiers but was less than impressed with the Army reserve guys who had just signed up for the money and never thought they would end up in Iraq.

He was part of a Marine unit or platoon or whatever that was assigned to protect the Army folks running the infamous Abu Graib prison when a coordinated attack was made to force entry into the prison compound. Multiple car / truck bombs, mortars ,etc all happened at once. My son was off duty and had to run grab his weapon and head to his assigned area which was in or near the mess hall. The Army reserve guy next to him was freaked out and shaking and crying to the point an Iraqi contractor working for the Americans asked him to give him his weapon to use, which he did. My son was very embarressed but glad the Iraqi was ready and willing to fight.
