Exactly Thad. And if one is going into fulltime ministry, the Bible Colleges are there to prepare them.
My daughter wanted to go to a certain Bible College to be in a christian environment - but at the moment, she is not going into ministry, per se. She is a communications major so we chose a Church of God University that would cover both areas. She will get that degree. Everyone minors in Religious Studies. If she decides that she does want to pursue ministry she can add more ministry classes to her schedule to prepare her for that area of her life too.

I firmly believe that everything they need to prepare them...is right there in their local church. If they have regular meetings with their pastor and their pastor gives them certain responsibilities....I think there is enough to prepare them under the watchful eye of the pastor.

I agree. And while preparing for ministry the individual can go to a local college and get an education that leads to employment to support his /her ministry

We talked to Tabitha and told her that if she still has the desire to go, she can after she finishes at Lee. She can work and we will help.

I told my son the same thing! He is finishing his ironworker apprenticeship this year which gives him an associates degree. With those skills he will be able to make a generous wage and then if he wants to go to Bible College I'll support him as best I can.
He actually got almost a complete free ride to Anderson University [Church of God] but instead chose to work and get his ironworker license/card and then it gave him time to grow up and decide what he really wants to do.
So many young men choose ministry because their fathers, grandfathers, ect...it is all they know. My son needs to chose as God calls him; not dad or granddad.
Blessings, Rhoni
P.S. What many don't understand is that Bible College isn't as spiritual a place as one is led to believe.

Where is Anderson? Is that Indiana? Tabo goes to Lee University in Cleveland, TN. How old is your son?

Well I disagree. The local church can be a stagnant enviroment in many instances. There is more life than laboring and waiting for the pastor to call you up to the platform which may or maynot happen.I think the enviroment is great in bible college to develop friendships and other things as well with others who are your age and you will likely minister with in the future.
It would depend on the pastor and if that pastor can educate you. Some face it cannot(enough said on that issue.)

Just curious here: why is anyone waiting for the pastor to call them up to the platform? It seems to me that if someone is going to be in ministry, then they are going to pursue it under the watchful eye of a pastor.
There is more to ministry than the platform as I am sure you will agree.
I am glad to hear that S is being useful to the kingdom. I do believe that she has a lot of potential and God will certainly use that as it develops.
