It was more like 30 years ago cause I'm not 45 and I remember it from when I was a kid. We weren't allowed to watch it in my *gasp* Baptist family becaue my parents thought it was too extreme.

When I was a small boy a man was put out of the Baptist church in our small town because he owned the building that was made into a theater. He did not operate the theater just owned the building but they throwed him out.

Those mean ol' Baptists. Sounds like a cult to me. How dare they abuse their authority like that!

Those Baptist people use to make you tow the mark too, before they got so liberal.
I was one, so I know. One of the churches was doing some history on a Baptist church, In the minutes they talked about bringing people before the church and withdrawing fellowship from them if they didn’t mend their ways.
And I remember just about the time the Baptist women started wearing their pants to church too. I know a few elders who didn’t out of respect of the House of the Lord, but the majority of them did.
I’ve only been UPC a few years, but I’ve been in a Pentecostal family a long time, and in my estimation the Pentecostals have really let down from the early teaching.

Pentecost in many areas of the country and fellowships are letting down. Sad but true. But have I can report some are NOT and refuse to leave the old paths. Preaching the holiness of spirit and flesh.

There are still Baptist around here like that…. we have a baptist church here in town that is still pretty conservative. I grew up attending the local school with the pastor (we were both PK’s growing up) and his wife.. the three of us were friends all the way through school. Now twenty years later, the pastor’s son now attends school with my daughter. Since the son knows my daughter’s heritage, he is constantly thumping his bible at her.. over everything from her track uniform to gym clothes.. whatever he feels she is in sin over… the only time he is kind to her is when she is wearing a jean skirt. lol He is so death against pants. Bekah told me that she sure hopes he gets lost in High School because he is making her life miserable at school. She carries a bible to school and reads in her free time, he is constantly challenging her over it not being a KJV.. telling her she might as well not read it. He is a legalist to the max! ….and he is Baptist.
