Church services as a whole have changed for sure, but regarding the subject of your thread, I'm not so sure an occasional program is wrong.
I remember when I was a young'un my momma started a children's choir...not very popular in the late '50s. So because 'some' folks thought it was just a kids thing, the pastor would only let us sing for special occasions. But here's the deal...
The father of one of the saints was an unsaved elderly gentlemen who only came once a year to hear mom's little choir.
You see, mom taught us more than
The Birdie With the Yellow Bill...we learned 3 part harmony and sang song like
How Big Is God and
He Lives...songs with meat and potatoes on them. That man came back year after year to receive a message he wouldn't otherwise sit for.
Too bad he only came at Easter and Christmas for a program.
I guess I'm saying this subject is broader than the brush any of us, not just you, but any of us are painting with. There's a lot to be considered on all sides...
