Are they? Or are they intended as preventatives? Either way neither really works well

Apostolic is defined on AFF as:

  1. There is One God. This one God reveals Himself distinctly as Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
  2. The Son is God himself in a human form or "God manifested in the flesh" (1Tim 3:16)
  3. Every sinner must repent of their sins.
  4. That Jesus name baptism is the only biblical mode of water baptism.
  5. That the Holy Ghost is for today and is received by faith with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues.
  6. The saint will go on to strive to live a holy life, pleasing to God.

Re: Newborns & Children go to hell?! What does the

correctional in nature. Yes. Correctional, in the hopes they would prevent transgressions. Correctional, Preventive.......starting to sound like semantics. But yeah, God will just throw newborns, children, and adults into a pit of eternal fire because he lacks the ability to correct/prevent/forgive.

Preventative is BEFORE the deed is done...to prevent it

Corrective is AFTER the deed is done, to correct the offenders error of his ways

Not the same thng

Re: Newborns & Children go to hell?! What does the

Something that is corrective prevents further/continual transgression. your stating the obvious.

I am stating the obvious! Of course but you are confusing what I said.

I did not use the word "Preventative" in the way that you are.

the fact is we have laws and consequences geared to try to prevent crimes from happening not "to prevent a criminal from repeating his mistakes after he gets out of rehab"

That's not what I meant by preventative, so you arguing it was semantics is not based on how I was using the word "preventative"

We're discussing the nature of punishment. In this life, unless you get a life sentence or are put to death, all punishments are corrective and work to prevent further transgressions. In the next life I believe they are all corrective, and that the corrections will be eternal.
