People don't get it. They don't understand that AMIMALS have souls too.

The word LIFE is SOUL in the Hebrew.

Are their souls immortal also?

We got into a playful conversation on this question at church once. My answer was, Jesus returns on a white horse... my Bible only describes animals being created on earth. So by implication this horse had to have originated on earth. So, I'd say, yes. lol

Of course, theologically speaking, it's anyone's guess. It's definitely a lighter discussion than most. The following two books address it to some degree...

Interesting books! I may have to get the 2nd one for my wife for her upcoming birthday.

These books certainly seem to show a more positive view of heaven than I ever heard in the UPC -which is that heaven was going to be an eternal song service/alter call!

I really enjoyed the, Will I See Fido, book. It was very light but actually got deeper than you might expect in some places. Great book really.

Randy Alcorn's book is the result of like over 20 years of research involving Heaven and the afterlife. It's was the best book on Heaven I've read so far. I also have another book on Heaven that is pretty good, but no where near as comprehensive as Alcorn's:

Right. For the first 1000 years, we will be right here on planet Earth, as kings and priests, with plenty of work to do.
After that, on the New Earth, we just have to wait and see.

That was one of Randy Alcorn's main points. What he calls the "intermediate Heaven" is a spiritual reality. Our "eternal Heaven" (as he calls it) is an eternity in the New Heavens and the New Earth. The primary focus of the book is the New Creation and our resurrected and glorified state.
