So, this last weekend, my husband and I went on a weekend get-away. We usually do this every fall. Our birthdays are both in October, so we celebrate. Here is what it cost.
Hotel, found on Priceline $40.00 a night plus taxes= $100.00
I found a ton of birthday coupons online and here is what we ate. It took me about 3 hours to get all these coupons and print out maps from our hotel to the restaurants. Here are the costs with rounded numbers and tips:
1. Old Country Buffet Buy One Get One $12.00
Walked around mall-free. 2 one minute chair massages $2.00
2. IHOP birthday breakfast and regular priced breakfast $12.00
3. Skipped Lunch after that huge breakfast. 1 1/2 hour cruise on a river $34.00- 10% coupon found online and then went hiking afterwards (free)= $30.60
4. Restaurant.com coupon. I bought a bunch of these on sale for $2.00 for $25.00 of and they can be transferred and never expire. Very fancy dinner with live music and $20.00 entrees. $27.00
5. Went back to hotel and then later got Dairy Queen Blizzards, Buy One Get One Free Birthday Coupon. $4.00
6. Next Day Breakfast Dennys 20% off coupon. We split a $9.99 huge breakfast. So, with tip it was $10.00
7. Went to a Pioneer and Indian Museum and took a couple of tours. $16.00
8. Bought my kids a couple of little fun gifts $7.00
9. Had another BOGO coupon for Old Country Buffet, the meal was so goo we did it again but this coupon required a drink purchase. $14.50
10. Watched some awesome hot air balloons on the way home. Free
11. About 318 miles traveled in our car that gets 68 miles to the gallon with gas at $3.29= $15.00 for gas.
So, $250.00 for a weekend of fun including gifts and gas!
In order to do this, a person has to go to a metropolitan area where priceline hotels and restaurants have a lot of competition.
