I have also heard from several people over the decades who had an uncle/friend/father of your sisters boyfriend, who had the 1967 Buick that got 45 miles to the gallon until they visited the shop and was told it was installed with the wrong carburetor, at which point it started getting the "normal" 14 mpg after the "correct" one was put back in. This is ALSO an urban legend who's sources are all tantalizingly close, but never verifiable.
