i would say that you (and the other R) have learned the accepted definitions of each word in the Scriptures admirably well; kudos. Now you might do your congregations a favor (i would say "us a favor," but your literal pov has made the truth clear to us; and it is different for each of us, surely); Try accepting the meaning of the
entire verse, even using your definitions;
feel what the verse is saying. Even just starting at the first sentence in v 11, that the women were not
learning in quietness and full submission--which, after all, is only what any teacher might expect from any listener--sets a tone, and provides a context for v 12, which
may be interpreted "You came here to learn; but you are interruptive, aggressive, and belligerent in class. Be quiet.
Now sure, one might also don their short, blocky mustache, or place their index finger horizontally under their nose
in my opinion and decipher a stricter standard, which is their perfect right. You know it's a man's world, however--heck, that should reveal some meaning right there, as i bet no female scholars, or very few, were involved with any translations--and
no respecter of persons might even have some app here. But an at least inarguable
pov might laugh at this
absolute silence in church stuff, wherein one must ignore too much other Scripture to make fit. Imo.
Exo 38:8
"Bezalel made the bronze washbasin and its bronze stand from bronze mirrors donated by the women who served at the entrance of the Tabernacle."
you know this is not about actual mirrors and washbasins, right?
Gen 24:11
"And he made the camels kneel down outside the city by the well of water at the time of evening, the time when women go out to draw water."
know what camels rep? and water? you don't imagine that God used His Word to discuss watering livestock, really now, do you?
Exo 1:19
"The midwives said to Pharaoh, 'Because the Hebrew women are not like the Egyptian women, for they are vigorous and give birth before the midwife comes to them.' "
a sublime reflection
'When I break your staff of bread, ten women will bake your bread in one oven, and they will bring back your bread in rationed amounts, so that you will eat and not be satisfied.
you must know what eating and bread symbolize, and even, in defiance of any would-be Bible Nazis out there,
"Go and assemble all the Jews who can be found in Susa and fast for me. Don't eat or drink for three days, day or night. I and my female servants will also fast in the same way. After that, I will go to the king
even if it is against the law. If I perish, I perish."
how much clearer can women pastoring in a time of spiritual famine be for you, please tell me.
