I realize I am being discussed but since none of you are responsible for this assembly it don't bother me. I will give an answer for this congregation and I am satisfied with my stand before God.

and, Brother, that's the way it should be.
Just wondering,
How long have you been pastor there?
and
Are the standards you teach what the church was used to before you came and the way previous pastors taught or were you quite a change for them?

Going on 13 years. The previous pastor did not allow facial hair. He NEVER taught it was sin but just did not allow it. If you think banning facial hair is legalism and tough try this:
To a man wanting to bury his father "Let the dead bury the dead."
To man wanting to kiss his father and mother good bye "the man who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is not fit for the kingdom"
To the young man who wanted to follow Jesus "sell ALL you have and give to the poor."
I have NEVER required any of this. Facial hair seems a small thing compared to this.

One thing all of these demands have in common. They were made by Jesus.
You are not Jesus, and beards were not one of them.

Also, they were for specific people - not for the multitude.
To the rich man He said, "One thing thou lackest . . . sell all you have and give to the poor . . . then you'll have treasures in heaven, and come follow me."
To a Disciple who would follow him, but wanted to bury his father, Jesus said, "Follow me, and let the dead bury their own dead." (I believe more symbolic spiritually than just literally)
To another who wished to bid his family goodbye before leaving to follow Jesus, Jesus said, "No one, after putting his hand to the plow and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.”
So these were for specific individuals and for specific purposes . . . they were not broad rules for the multitudes.
