It is sad, but it is the current state of affairs.

What sad state of affairs, from what I hear the UPCI is fracturing.
I never liked that the UPCI was controlled by the Ultra-cons but I figure that they would eventually lose power and a more middle of the road leadership would take over.
But it seems the Ultra-cons are tightening their control even harder and they are squeezing people out. In their seal for a pure church they are uprooting a whole bunch of wheat along with the tares.

Don't forget one man's liberal is another man's ultra con and vice versa! (as I recall I saw you wearing a brown suit in a sea of black ones at a AMF meeting a few years ago. I think in some peoples eyes that qualifies you as a liberal. LOL)

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.

"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.

"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

What?! The Elder Epley in a brown suit?! If you tell me he was wearing patent leather shoes I'm gonna have to take back every good thing I've ever said about Bro Epley!

I don't recall the shoes. I do recall him taking a few laps around the church in that brown suit standing out like a sore thumb in a sea of black! Even the young kids had on black suits and ties.

Of course once I saw most of the women wearing watches with metal bands that were gold and silver colored I knew that the entire AMF had gone liberal! (on a serious note that did actually surprise me. I was expecting either leather bands or no watches at all).

The reverend has been known to run with those free guys, are you sure this was an AMF sanctioned meeting? J/W
