Sure it would, you just don't know all the details. . Btw, he pastored a couple of years ago, and I was not compelled to be near them even then. They live in OK. and I live in IN.

I don't think it's a conservative trait necessarily. It's a trait of parents that want to administer influence and little bit of control.

I do not know about that, but I do know that there are parents that want to excersize "control". I'm sure you can agree with that.

cheap land..
I have friends in southern Indiana who live all on one road...when the kids married- they moved on the road- when the grandkids married, they too moved on the road...LOL Grandpa is pastor, sons in laws are leaders in the church, and sons also.
Grandpa gave each child a plot of his acreage when they married. Doesn't come any cheaper than THAT. *smile* They are a close-knit bunch who honor their parents, and work like cheap labor from sun up till sun down. Bout the only thing I can say is- I wish I was one of the kids....LOL

I think conservative churches are more passionate about their heritage, so I would think it is a little more prominent there. It just isn't only conservative churches.

I think that control may be the case in some families. I think it's an issue with kids who can't make decisions for themselves in some cases.
In other families, I think it is a case of very close family ties, loving to spend time with each other, maintaining the family heritage and an unquestionning support system. Some families are friends.
I know that in my family, the fourth generation is just as close to each other as the first generation was. I love that my children are best friends with my cousins' children. I love that we can all get together for family dinners without having to wait for holidays. I love that we can call each other in the middle of the night if there is an emergency and be together within 20 minutes or less. I love that we can all drop in to Grandma's house and if we stay an hour, you can probably see other family members. If you are trying to track one of the family down, go to Grandma's house - that's your best shot.
