Am I a cultist if I:

Tell folks to turn to page 95 in the song book?
Tell folks we will have a prayer meeting on Monday night?
Tell folks we are having a workday Saturday and I want them there?
Tell folks service begins at 6 on Sunday Night?
Tell folks bring some visitors?

And the list goes on.

I am a leader that is what I do is to lead. Why is it only in church are leaders seen as cult leaders if they actually lead and expect folks to follow?
Brother Epley, I don't see anyone saying that as a pastor you have no authority. I do, however, see people pointing out areas where they feel you, and other pastors also, overstep that authority and cross into areas that are beyond the scope of scriptural mandate. You simply can not make up rules for people to live by just because they suit you. Those days are long gone, my friend. I've said it before and will say it again, some people do need to be led by the nose or they simply won't make it. That approach does not work for everybody, however. Frankly, I don't need someone to tell me whether I can or can't grow a beard. It's really none of any pastor's business if I have one or not because it won't affect my getting into Heaven. If it did then it would be spelled out in God's Word, just like all the other things that will affect my getting into Heaven are. If God wants me to shave He is more than able to get my attention and let me know. I'm more than willing to shave these whiskers for Him, if He were to ask me. He isn't so I ain't.

No. That line is never busy, Brother. I am always open to hearing from the Lord. The older I get the more I cherish it when the Lord takes time out from running the Universe to come visit hard headed old me.

You mean, since the time of Paul??

The Bible is full of him giving orders without scripture to back him up. Most of his letters deal with how HE preferred things in the churches. I wonder how the Bible would read if King James included the rebuttals of those churches...........
