You simply can not make up rules for people to live by just because they suit you. Those days are long gone, my friend. I've said it before and will say it again, some people do need to be led by the nose or they simply won't make it. That approach does not work for everybody, however. Frankly, I don't need someone to tell me whether I can or can't grow a beard. It's really none of any pastor's business if I have one or not because it won't affect my getting into Heaven. If it did then it would be spelled out in God's Word, just like all the other things that will affect my getting into Heaven are. If God wants me to shave He is more than able to get my attention and let me know. I'm more than willing to shave these whiskers for Him, if He were to ask me. He isn't so I ain't.
This is overstepping boundaries for sure.

If you asked them if I was hard nosed they would laugh out loud. Some no doubt think I should crack the whip more. I am not a whip cracker but when I do have to which is not very often yes they do know it has been cracked. But on this facial hair business I have NOT said:
1. It is a sin.............sin is a transgression of the law.
2. That someone will go to Hell for wearing it.

However in this assembly where I have been given charge I have made the decision which is in line with Apostolic precedent since the 60's that facial hair is NOT allowed on members and there it stands. I just think if the ladies are going to bear the cross of their appearance surely it does not hurt a man to shave.
A side note I have noticed many men when they backslide from Pentecostal churches one of the first things they do is to grow facial hair so to my simple mind that is telling.
However godly men such as Bishop Haywood & Bishop Johnson wore facial hair and I have no doubt to see them in Heaven. Of course both died before the 60's revolution.
I am amazed my lib comrades have come to my defence but though we disagree on most standards stuff they do understand the principle of leadership in society at large not just in the church. Leaders have to lead.
So then, a bearded man/non-member of your church, who attends regularly, CAN go to heaven...?????

Isn't this the same as saying that a man with a beard will go to hell [if he attends the church that SE pastors]?

Brother, thinking of this statement and the thought that beards were rejected for Christian men because hippies on the 60's wore them, makes one realize they are nothing similar. It is not the same as wanting the "good old days" when things were milder compared to today, when you maintain an outdated ruling that does not apply today.

Like I said, there are silly laws in existence such as something similar to jail for those who leaves their cows in Main Street's horse water trough. The laws do not aply since nobody uses horses on Main Street, and there are no watering troughs for horses on Main Street. That is the same thing as a rule that beards associate one with Hippies of the sixties. That is not the same as simply wanting the good old days.

The nature of the progress in our day has nothing to do with the fact that the ruling against beards cannot apply to today due to the non-existence of the conditions that were the reasons the ruling was concocted.

They preached against nylons without seams years ago as well. What if someone still held onto that standard? Same thing!

Their path is not desirable to me. We speak a different language only a few words are the same. Dialouge is difficult at best. You know when the temple was built the young men shouted for joy because they had not seen Solomon's temple in it's beauty but the old men wept they remembered.
Yet, a computer is no problem for you brother?

I remember hearing his name before...

Speaking of Canadians from the old days... on IRC there used to be a Canadian and I think his last name was Patterson...

He made a DOS based bible study that was circulating a lot back in those days.
