We have to really be soberly minded when we want to point the finger at another religion and cry off with their heads. We weep, wail, and gnash our teeth about losing religious freedoms, but in truth the only freedom anyone gives a plug nickel about is their own. They don't care about someone else's. Especially if they are part of the wrong group. Terrorism is hateful, no matter if it is done by Muslims, Christians, Hindus, or Buddhists. Yet, terrorism is carried out by terrorists, not by every single member of the religion which the terrorist may come from. Once we declare that everyone who practices religion X is a possible terrorist then we must have a solution, and sadly those solutions end up with innocent people getting killed, along with their children.
Believe me, I don't want to break up your little party of sabre rattling, and wanting to stack bodies 15 feet high. That taste of blood is warm in your mouth. All I'm saying is that this problem is complex, and cooler heads must prevail. The Jews say never again, but they say that about themselves, but who will say that for the next religion having to lay its head on the chopping block?
I pray for the wounded and the families who now mourn their dead loved ones in Paris.
I asked repeatedly what's the final solution, but all I was given was probable legislation, and cherry picked verses from religious books of the offending religion. If anyone has seen the Eternal Jew, the Nazi demonized the ghetto Jew the same way, painted them in a bad light, cherry picked their religious books, all to motivate hatred of a religion and a people.
Martin Niemöller summed it up well in the words of his poem They First Came. If we don't stand up for what is right and just, to make sure only the guilty are judged. Then when they are all gone and silenced, the next ones they may come for is us.
