Often, people have higher standards for secular things than sacred things.
This post reminds me of the parable where the guy was cast out of the wedding feast for not wearing worthy appropriate wedding garments.

Re: Is it true that....

When I wear a shirt and tie to work M - F, it is nice to go to church and not be judged because I'm not wearing a suit. Recently, I usually wear jeans with a belt, nice shirt (no tie), and boots-- nothing sloppy at all, but not a suit and tie.

However, if I want to be active in my church, I am going to have to conform to the norms of this church-- which seems to include suits with ties for the men who are involved in something.

Bound hand and foot, the offender was speechless because he knew better. Still it is a parable which holds a deeper meaning. The Roman Empire as well as other ancient society believed what you wore is who you are. Today trends, fads, fashions influence dress. Therefore looking like a homeless person is barely noticeable.

Suits and ties are associated with another group; seems funny to me that a church would choose that as a uniform.

Re: Is it true that....

I am gainfully employed by the Walmart corporation, and enjoy my job immensely. The current running under some of the comments about the people who shop there is very judgmental and, in my opinion, ungodly.

If you were predisposed to evangelize the lost, working at Walmart is about the best thing you could hope to do. Did we forget that the "People of Walmart" are lost sinners needing a Savior?

And for the record, for every one or even ten oddly or even inappropriately apparelled person or persons who shop at Walmart across the USA, there are literally thousands upon thousands who shop there every day, who do not dress or comport themselves in any odd or inappropriate way.

I see countless hundreds, and some times thousands of people every week, and guess what? Almost none of that number qualify for the comments being made here.
