It is a big deal when a church that had no intention of disaffiliating has their pastor threatened. And when that threat to remove him ends in a disaffiliation of the entire local assembly instead of one minister.

I wonder if we will still count them as "adherents"? You know, to inflate our worldwide growth totals?

There is that word "threatened" again. How is asking a man to comply with agree upon guidelines a "threat?"

I just have one thing to say.....I'm glad we removed ourselves when we did in 1991. We had heard rumors that they were "coming after us". I'm so thankful it didn't come down to that, and it was very peaceful. We still remain friends with many of the UPC guys here, or at least friendly acquaintances. There were no hard feelings.

If I was in the org. and felt a need to leave ,I'd do so quietly and peaceable too.

If the man continues to hold his license then indeed they would probably be counted as adherents. Been that way for years.
