I have never gone to a silent baptism where they didn't tell the one being baptized by the confession of your faith. As long as I can remember they were instructed to confess the name of Jesus. UPCI, ALJC, Spanish veil wearers, Brazilian and Haitian congregations all instructing the one being baptized to call on the name of JESUS. Never been to a baptism with someone just quietly going under.

I've been to few, if ever any, "Jesus name baptisms" where I recall anyone (being themselves baptised), directly prior to being baptised, ever spoke the name of Jesus out loud, rather they gave answers to the baptiser, i.e.: when asked for confirmation if they had repented of their sins, asked for forgiveness? They would nod or answer yes. Generally, the last time they actually called on the name of Jesus was 20 mins earlier during a smash face prayer meeting, and that was the last time they vocalized the name of Jesus until atleast when they came up out of the water. The baptiser did the vocalizing of Jesus. "Having repented of your sins, I now baptism you innthe name of Jesus for the remission of sins".

I don't recall ever seeing/hearing a baptiser encouraging the candidate to call on the name of Jesus AT baptism.

So, do you guys view that as scriptural allignment, "being baptised calling on the name of the Lord"?

Acts 22:16 And now what are you waiting for? Get up, be baptized and wash your sins away, calling on his name.'

James 2:7 Don't they blaspheme the noble name that was pronounced over you at your baptism? Holman Christian Standard Bible

James 2:7 is the baptizer, and Acts 22:16 is the baptizee.

I suppose the question is, what validates and can invalidate the baptism?
The baptiser not calling on the name of Jesus at baptism?
The baptisee not calling on the name of Jesus at baptism?
Neither?
Both?
