Why do scholars believe the Christ was born in the 7th month? (I'm not defending Christmas as the day of Christ's birth). Just asking.

Has to do with:

John was 6 months older than Jesus.
John's father was of a certain course of priests (Abiah?).
From this it can be determined that Christ was born right around the seventh month unless he was a premie.

The Magi play into this as well, but that's pretty deep and most probably don't want to get into astronomy...
