Well that clarifies it.

well, the problem might be that it is the people who are the Church, and there is no other Church but the people, so, the UPCI is an organization, not a church. It is an attempt to organize the Church. Hmm. So, instead of the Church being made up of the members of the Body, the Church is being made into an organ of...something else. Now we are not talking about congregations...until they accept being an organ of something else.
And even this may not describe a person, who happens to be there in the congregation, because they may not consider themselves a...member...is a member the same as an organ? Yes, it is. So when you become a member, you become an organ, to whatever it is that you have joined. Whaddya think?

I think you are on to something here. Face it all religious organizations are based on one mans doctrines. Not the teachings of Christ. Oh yah they have the teachings of Christ in some ways, but the primary teachings are based on one mans "revelation".
Lutheran, Martin Luther. Don't have the list before me but it is a long one.
Bottom line the church of God "body of Christ" did not have a banner over the door. They did not have a set of bylaws except the scripture.
It is my opinion, the minuet a group begins to define bylaws they become like the sects of Christ day, and become a side issue. While individuals make up the body and may at the same time be part of the organization, the organization is as dead as the sect of Pharisee's in Christ day.

Re: The UPC is a dying movement!
Oh and by the way, just because you have a move of God in the local church does not make the organization any less dead.
