Did anyone think to ask why the pastor took the visiting minister to a place with a $500 lobster?

Since this is a very well known visiting preacher, I would assume the local pastor wanted to treat him to a nice restaurant.

Maybe the visiting preacher was stiffed in his pay for coming to preach, so he took it out in food!

This might be a real "story" I think. I just do not believe it.

It's not likely, but I'm just throwing out possibilities!

If the pastor had a problem shelling out big bucks for the meal, he shouldn't have taken him to a high class restaraunt.

What's the big deal? If the pastor has any financial sense about him, he would count it as a business expense on his taxes. I see this as a win win situation.

Churches are non-profit, so using church money for food as a business expense won't help lessen the tax load because they don't pay taxes.

If the pastor paid it out of his own pocket (doubtful) his only deduction savings is at best 50% depending on his personal income tax rate.

Every church I'm aware of, have all had a special expense account that the pastor uses for occassions like this, and is seperate from his take home pay.

According to Jeanie (who knew the original story), the church picked up the bill. That's why it was a big deal!!

I put the blame, if any on the pastor.
