Re: "We Couldn't Play Marbles..."

I'm sitting in my truck. Had a horrible day pouring mud (concrete) slab.
I was feeling worn out until I thought about some guy preaching a sweet smelling savior.

Re: "We Couldn't Play Marbles..."

I know a pastor who preached on King David killing 200 Philistines and bringing back their foreskins. He loved Louis L'Amour books and wrongly thought foreskins were scalps. He mentioned these "scalps" more than once in his message. One preacher on the platform laughed so hard he almost feel out of his chair.

Once a fervent but misguided Christian was trying to convert me to his doctrine, I made the mistake of explaining to him what circumcision really was, big mistake the guy was horrified and left my presence in total shock.

I read somewhere that in ancient times this was a common practice of humiliation. I also read that the KJV sanitized what was really occurring-- the full emasculation of their defeated foes, not just the foreskins.

Talk about humiliation and death!

The KJV sanitizes a lot of things.

Some of the original Hebrew language was not always political correct, but the translators felt the actual words might be offensive to many people so they substituted with euphemisms.

King Saul went into a cave to cover his feet.

the real story is that he went in to take a "dump", from one euphemism to another.
