Woman who won lottery gifts local pastor $700,000.

"When a North Carolina woman won the Powerball lottery, she thought her problems were over. Instead, her local pastor sued her for $10 million."

She is just lucky Peter wasn't her Pastor

Acts 5:1-11King James Version (KJV)
5..But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession,
2..And kept back part of the price, his wife also being privy to it, and brought a certain part, and laid it at the apostles' feet.
3..But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land?
4..Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God.
5..And Ananias hearing these words fell down, and gave up the ghost: and great fear came on all them that heard these things.
6..And the young men arose, wound him up, and carried him out, and buried him.
7..And it was about the space of three hours after, when his wife, not knowing what was done, came in.
8..And Peter answered unto her, Tell me whether ye sold the land for so much? And she said, Yea, for so much.
9..Then Peter said unto her, How is it that ye have agreed together to tempt the Spirit of the Lord? behold, the feet of them which have buried thy husband are at the door, and shall carry thee out.
10..Then fell she down straightway at his feet, and yielded up the ghost: and the young men came in, and found her dead, and, carrying her forth, buried her by her husband.
11..And great fear came upon all the church, and upon as many as heard these things.

He shouldn't have sued her.

Yup. I can't believe this guy found a lawyer to file that lawsuit. What a moron and a horrible witness for Christ.

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.

"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.

"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

Re: Woman who won lottery gifts local pastor $700,

Hmmm, in reading this, it also said that she felt accountable to him from him bailing her boyfriend out of prison multiple times.

When reading the headline, I thought the pastor was just money hungry, but it shows that he don't know how to give and expect nothing in return. But then again, she is also in the wrong in that if they agreed on 1-2 million and she only doled him $700,000, especially with all the help that she supposedly received from him.

I believe you misread the article.

"""Holmes felt the stress of being financially accountable not only for the land Matthews wanted to buy but also helped bail her boyfriend out of prison several times. According to a report from Black Web America, Holmes had shelled out nearly $21 million to keep Lamar McDow out from behind bars."""

Holmes, not the pastor, bailed her boyfriend out of jail.

The pastor is a money grubbing hireling.

She doesn't legally owe him a dime and the courts should rightly toss his lawsuit out.

Part of my job is mediation and I have had too many clients come in complaining that they had a verbal agreement with the other party. Guess what, doesn't matter. Not in this day and age, unfortunately.
