That’s almost true Sean. It would be more accurate to say that the lower you are on the totem pole, the closer to drunk you can get. Drunkenness is still a sin though. What this scripture illustrates is that drinking is acceptable, in the early church. It may not be advisable, and it shouldn’t be done if it would cause someone week to stumble (Amanah), but at the end of the day, drinking is not a sin.
Another thing this scripture highlights is that, contrary to popular belief, everyone is NOT held to the same standard. To whom much is given, much is required. Almost sounds like the “light doctrine”.
Elder Epley, could you share some wisdom on this?
