Bro Eckstadt, believe me, I'm well aware of what's 'out there'.
I've learned a lot just by reading this forum. lol
There is a saying....'if it ain't broke, don't fix it'. If it (UPC) ever completely breaks, I suppose we will need to look at other options. But we will need to make sure we're not the ones that are 'breaking'.

If you like the UPC you really ought to try the Greek Orthodox Church.

I heard a Greek Orthodox Priest preach one time -- and I MEAN PREACH. As good as any Pentecostal I've ever heard. I was quite surprised...

ROFLOL... name an Apostolic preacher and I could almost bet that I've heard him -- especially if they've preached some of the bigger ministry conferences (within the "liberal" churches). I was on an apostolic church pew (the second to be exact) when I was 2 weeks old. I missed no service, unless I was sick, until I was in college -- Texas Bible College to be exact. I was a preacher in the apostolic church for around 10 years, myself -- and was quite good, if I may say so. My father was a UPC preacher for 20 years and his father before him was.
Wow -- that little spiel of mine reminds me of Paul:
Though I might also have confidence in the flesh. If any other man thinketh that he hath whereof he might trust in the flesh, I more: Circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, an Hebrew of the Hebrews; as touching the law, a Pharisee; Concerning zeal, persecuting the church; touching the righteousness which is in the law, blameless. But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ. Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ,

Good grief!! It was a joke meant to be funny. I chose a denomination as far removed from the UPC as I could think of for the joke.
You guys are a trip you are so sensitive and over react. It was not a nice or bad thing to say. It was a joke. You do remember those don't you?
