Because he single-handedly rebuilt the economy, ended unemployment for many Germans, demolished the restrictions of the Versailles Treaty, and established a feeling of national unity.

From what I've read, he was able to pass the "Law to remedy the distress of people and Reich" because most of his political foes were in jail and his SA troops had intimidated the rest.
