Because tolerance can be viewed as agreement by some.

Can be viewed, perhaps, but not necessarily.
I can be tolerant of the opinions of others, even as it pertains to doctrine, and not align with it.

What I was trying to say is that if I'm tolerant of a view some think I agree with it.
I try to be tolerant of sinners and imperfect saints ( I think everyone falls in to one of the two  ), while not being tolerant nor ensnared in sin.
