Yes, this may be the clearest explanation of the great divide between lay and clergy I have ever seen. And I've seen some clear ones.
OK, folks, on this side of the gap, we laymen must never speak of anyone on the other side, except in a fawning, adoring, approving tone. We may beat each other up, but we mustn't touch the anointed across the chasm.
On their side, they and only they can point out the specks in each other's eye. And the planks in ours, of course. We are "just saints", after all. We don't know what a minister "goes through". We don't know much of anything, I suppose.
