When we teach the Word of God and teach people how to follow after the spirit and not after the flesh, they wont want to watch the television. does that make everything on there bad? no of course not... When we teach people the Word of God and how it says to set no evil before your eyes, and then if the people's hearts are right, they won't watch the junk on tv or video or whatever. If you are being led by the spirit of God, then you will not want adultery , murder, homosexuality. fornication in your house...whether it comes from tv or the books we read....
...it's kinda funny, some of the men we fellowship would put me in a backslidden condition because I watch adventures in odyssey or even educational films....but they have no problem sowing discord among the brethren... where is the balance????
no, I don't have a tv in my home and i am sure i will never have one... I am not for tv at all by no means.... but let me throw something at you here...
an elderly lady was a preacher's wife for over 50 years. They preached strong against tv... hubby dies and 8 years later she is in a nursing home with no way to church...no family to take her and only has a couple that takes her to service once every other month. hungry for the Word she ends up watching preaching on tv... she is 80 years old and is being blessed by the services... a wonderful, self righteous grandaughter said, it is sad that after all these years, grandma is going to hell for watching tv... Hmm??? TV is not the sin here....

Here is how I see all of this:
Those in control of the organizations make the playing rules.
Some are Biblical. Others are just their opinions.
If you don't abide by the Biblical AND their rules, then you are shunned. You are berated as rebellious from the pulpits as well as privately. People in the congregation and the world are told you are backslidden and they work to deprive you of any credibility because you do not abide by the rules THEY have made - not the Biblical rules.
God looks on.
God knows that He will judge us out of His book - not the Manual of any organization, not the by-laws of the church, not the book of criticism or the opinion of any national, district, or local official.
Hey, some of us die daily to our own flesh and because we are killed by those who are supposed to be watching our back.
HE was wounded and forsaken. If we are, we should not think it strange.
Anyway, God is good and opinion is just that - opinion.

Huh? Haven't you ever read about the very same things in the Bible?
