So why do you think he say give place unto wrath? Could it be he is talking about being angry? About being offended?

God's principals don't change. If He allowed men to protect their families in the OT, I believe He still allows men to protect their family today.

He is the same today, yesterday, and forever!

My answer to this is:

Ephesians 4:26-27
(26) Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:
(27) Neither give place to the devil.

The devil is the one who desires to see anger and wrath in man. Perfect love casts out all fear. He uses fear to cause man to fall to sin's entrapments.

Look agains at what Paul wrote:

Romans 12:18
(18) If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.

This is not a choice; it is a statement of spiritual maturity. This is not a license to retaliate or kill, but a law that says you should be above this and do the rest of what he writes:

Romans 12:19-21
(19) Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.
(20) Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head.
(21) Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.

This is exactly what Jesus and His apostles did.
