Indeed...
My mother had a brain tumor some 30 years ago. The doctor went in to see what was going on and he said it was a bloody mass and if he touched it she would bleed to death... so they left it... for the time being.
Some time later he found that a shell had formed around it and could then be removed. 30 years later she is doing great.
We battle not against flesh and blood... there is a flip side to that... it is flesh and blood we are trying to save.
Sometimes people are so fixated on "removing the tumor" that they are willing to kill the patient to demonstrate that they are doing something about it.
If ones goal is to save the patient then one may have to have a little wisdom about themselves and wait & pray for the time that this person is spiritually ready to have this sin excised. Until then... the word goes forth... the word has its work... the spirit has its work.
They begin to see the damage that sin is bringing to their life... a shell begins to form between them and the sin and it can be removed without killing the patient.
The goal is to save the patient... not to get at the "tumor" (sin) immediately and at all costs.
My mothers doctor did not consider it a reflection on his ability as a doctor when he left the tumor in her head for that short period of time. As a matter of fact... he is long dead now... and it is still a reflection on his wisdom and expertise that he waited until her body was ready.
I have a mother today because he did.
