Sister, in all sincerity, I do so respect you trying to stand for what you believe. But, there is no way the scripture you gave can in any way be used to prove that Paul meant a man is to kill another man.
If you would read further into Paul’s criteria for an Overseer, you would find Paul’s emphasis is on these men being Spiritual leaders. The ‘rule’ Paul speaks of is that these men both acknowledge and demonstrate the type traits that are agreeable with Christlikeness; both at home and in the company of other believers. That is what Paul was dealing with. Nothing more.
At no time did Paul mention or hint at anything closely related to what you are saying. Like I said, your usage of this passage is out of context. Sister, there is not a credible Bible commentary you can offer that says what you do about this passage. Not one.
What? No scripture? I'm shocked!
And Paul isn't speaking about spiritual leaders, but the men who have families, if you read the scripture I posted.
Did you even bother to look up the Strong's definition for 'rule'?
As to your first statement, you are correct, but if one is protecting their family, that protect should include anything possible in the realm of reality.

Funny thing though. I post a second verse and now you want a commentary to further prove what I'm claiming! Does it ever end with you people?

Didn't need any scripture to show your post was unscriptural.

Yep, sure did. It was just as you say. But it was not in accordance with how you applied it. If you are a proofreader you should understand how such issues work.

Sister, a Christian does not walk by the "realm of reality." Christians are to only walk within the reality Jesus establishes in His Word. He is the only WAY, TRUTH, and LIFE! That is the whole subject here. Not what 'we believe' or 'we think,' but 'what does Jesus say'?

Funny, regarding your usage of scripture, I was wondering where does it begin?

I post scripture, and you can just say that it's unscriptural....ooooook.

It's speaking of a man ruling his home. This isn't speaking about spiritual leaders only. Read the text, I shouldn't have to post it here.

But only cause you say so, right?

Sure....go ahead and think those words when the emergency arises....I mean, Jesus had no fear, therefore you won't, right?
Reality exists, even in the Christian world.

Again, it is NOT about using the pronoun "I". It is about using your own opinions instead of God's Word. Why not just list your scriptures? That is what is repeatedly being asked for.
Did you even read what I had posted?
Im still waiting for you to list scriptures that says you can use a computer to communicate...or the internet...or pews....or pulpits...or sound systems.
I wonder how many preachers have bible for golf

Apostolic is defined on AFF as:
There is One God. This one God reveals Himself distinctly as Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
The Son is God himself in a human form or "God manifested in the flesh" (1Tim 3:16)
Every sinner must repent of their sins.
That Jesus name baptism is the only biblical mode of water baptism.
That the Holy Ghost is for today and is received by faith with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues.
The saint will go on to strive to live a holy life, pleasing to God.
We had children, so we have never owned a gun in all the years we've been married. One reason being that statistics show that the vast majority of people killed in the home are family members, either by accident or by rage. I personally know of a case where one child shot another to death in the home....and this small child had to climb pretty high up to get to the gun.
I do have a question for L & F, and Bro B. Luke 12:39 has already been quoted. What do you think Jesus meant when he said if the good man of the house had known when the thief would come, he would not have suffered his house to be broken into........maybe use double locks, or what? He evidently would do something to prevent it.
Hope none of us is ever faced with a situation where someone has to die. I can't see not defending a small child, if it was in my power to do so. More than likely I would just pass out.

Great post, and you are so correct about guns in the home. I currently have three shotguns, but got my first one two years ago. The shells aren't with them and my kids are older and trustworthy with them. Not all children can be like that.
Interesting verse also. Can't wait to see the responses on it.
