Also, go by a sandwich place and try a cuban sandwich, too. GOOD EATING!!!!! I am now missing my hometown.
What is a "Cuban Sandwich"? Does it have cheese on it? I DO NOT like cheese!!!!! If I can't taste it, I will eat it, like on pizza, but that is about the only thing I will eat it on!!! EEWWWWWWWW!!!!

ask for (minus)- cheese. Make sure to get one made fresh, and not a convenient store one.

There are different flavors of the cuban sandwich. Down in Miami it is just pulled pork on cuban bread. In Ybor and Tampa, the put Genoa salami and ham on them. Cuban bread is similar to french bread, but comes in a 2 ft long loaf. I have an uncle by marriage (that I do not know personally) that owns a bakery in Tampa that bakes cuban bread.

I am really getting hungry!!!

I must say I have been gone too long to know for sure on hotels. I haven't been down there since my mom moved up to Knoxville, TN about 5 or 6 years ago.

Harbour Island is real nice, and I think they have a hotel (but probably $$$$$). It is a nice place to just visit and shop though and if I am remembering correct the Gulf of Mexico is right there to be seen and it is real close to the convention center.

The Aquarium is right there too.

Bayshore BLVD is a nice drive. Lots of neat homes to see.

Take the extra time and drive to Clearwater beach if you want to see water.

I don't know if anyone's mentioned it, but Charley's Steakhouse is incredible! You can even get a Filet well done and it will be melt in your mouth tender. We ate at the ones in Orlando and Tampa. They are elegant - a really nice place to eat.

I did mention it and have eaten in both places in Tampa & Orlando. A very good steak but NEVER cook one well-done that is blasphemy.

I know, I know, everyone tells me that. I cannot stand one little bit of pink though! Ashley eats hers medium rare and I can barely sit at the same table with her. There are very few places that can cook a good well-done steak; Charley's is one of them.

Good luck finding that. This past March my husband & I went down to visit my uncle who pastors there....sounds like it's gonna be a nightmare finding hotel rooms. He said that those around the arena are already booked and the nearby rooms were well over $150 a night. But Tampa's a big city and I'm sure you could find one on Dale Mabry or Fletcher.

I wanna go sooooooooo bad....we even have a room ready. But it's looking like responsibilities here at home are outweighing GC.

Hey Matt...you said you were from Tampa. Did you ever go to camp in Ocala? (That's where I'm from.)

I just saw this...

My dad pastored an small independent church in Tampa, so I never got the opportunity to go to UPC camps.
