what exactly is being brought into line by this kind of extreme retoric?
Balance is nice. I like balance. I just dont know what kind of balance you get from that kind of stuff.
The womens sufferage movenemtn didnt advocate men not voting, to get women the right to vote. they advocated the right of a woman to vote. they said what they meant. being extreme doesnt balance anything. it just brings a different kind of imballance.

From what I've been reading some women started on this journey back in the 1700's and it took almost 200 years for this to become universal in the US. It's been less than 90 years since this passed. Then there's the whole feminisit movement from the 60's and 70's. If you think about it...we're awfully new at this whole line of thinking.

this is key. universal sufferage was seen as quite radical in its day by those that realized their power was going to be diluted by it. of course in historical context we can view movements that have sought proper treatement of women as both radical in their time and at the same time JUST.
but does that mean we identify ourselves with the modern feminist movement that at its heart seeks to eliminate any difference between men and women?
i dont have time to delve into the depths here but the goal of organizations like NOW is not simply to make sure a woman gets paid the same as a man. Nobody has a problem with that.
but complicate that with 2 people 1 man 1 woman. both in the same position. woman goes away for 3 months due to maturnity comes back and a promotion is available. only 1 can get the promotion. Now we get into modern feminist movement from a political perspective.
Can you hold the 3 months leave against the woman? or what if the woman has been talking about having a baby at work and the boss knows. the boss has a slot open at the next level and the options are 2 quailified people one man one woman. can the boss use this information to choose the man? that man isnt going to miss more than a few days if his wife has a baby. The woman on the other hand could get the promotion and in a few months, be gone for 3 months to a half a year. and the boss cant replace her.
and we arent even getting into the real nasty parts like abortion on demand to the 9th month. leveraging womens issues for political gain by one party or the other when that particular issue really has no berring. Outlawing score keeping in little league because it teaches boys to be agressive. telling boys they cant play games like cowboys and indians because it teaches violence but they can play with dolls. These things are taking place right now in our society. Men wearing a pregnancy suit so they can identify with what a woman goes thru during pregnancy.
I really can go on and on...like i said I dont have time. feminism is bad. trust me.

3. Would the congregation get a warning when those certain days of the month rolls around?

2. If his wife or child requires attention during his preaching and no else can help?
3. Would the congregation get a warning when the man is going through a tough time at home, which is, afterall, his first obligation?

This is only my answer it may not work for everyone.
Brother Epley, as you know I only had one birth child the rest are adopted.
Back then we lived in a far interior city in a little house that did not even have running water...The work depended almostly solely on Brother Alvear and myself. My folks had come to Brazil and Brother Alvear and my dad had went to another one of our churches a little over an hour from when we lived.
We had at that time a radio broadcast and back then we did live programs. I cannot even remember but I doubt if we even owed a tape recorder...It was Sat. night and mother and I walked to the 6 o'clock radio program from there walked to our service since my dad and Brother Alvear had gone to another city. During service I was having contractions BUT I took care of the service in great pain. We made it home,,(very close by) and only then told mother I thought I was in labor...As soon as Brother Alvear and dad came in he took me to the little Catholic hospital...It was almost midnight on Sat...The baby had to be a c section...
I got out of the hospital and took my little prince home...
The doctor told me I should breast feed the baby but I explained to him the church needed me and it would be best for me to bottle feed him..so I did that.
Having a baby never hindered me from obeying the Lord...And when a woman has her certain days it is just a part of life...It never hindered me from doing whatever the Lord needed.
Women do not have to be pampered ...we are soldiers...
Only the laws of the old testament considered a woman unclean but no so under grace.

The doctor told me I should breast feed the baby but I explained to him the church needed me and it would be best for me to bottle feed him..so I did that.
Having a baby never hindered me from obeying the Lord...And when a woman has her certain days it is just a part of life...It never hindered me from doing whatever the Lord needed.
Women do not have to be pampered ...we are soldiers...
Only the laws of the old testament considered a woman unclean but no so under grace.

Sister Alvear....just a little sidenote...I would never advise a woman to pursue ministry instead of nursing her baby. As a mother, my primary role from God is to nurture and care for my child, and that is number one, especially when the child is small! Breastfeeding is something women should be encouraged to do, and obviously it doesn't matter now since your children are probably grown, but I think that it would be wrong to choose to bottle feed a baby just to be more helpful to the church! JMHO
Breastmilk is perfect for babies...God made it that way...and I would hope no mother would ever be encouraged to do otherwise, just to be more available to the church. God is the one who gives life, and if that life is given to me, then I think He wants my primary objective to be to care for that life.
I'm sorry if this comes across as a bit critical...not really meaning to be...I'm just a bit shocked that any woman would choose to bottle feed in order to serve the church.
