thus we are disapproving of the actual content and not a box of electronics or a media

I think that if this were the only way in a million years that a tv resolution would ever pass then I might vote for it. But it does make you look quite stupid to try and reach people that wacth tv then when they join your church teaching that it is a sin to watch tv. I think it is somewhat counter productive.
If I were a new convert that was reached by watching tv ad then came into the church and the pastor told me it was sin to watch tv. I would responde by saying it is like advertizing in Playboy mags or on the wall of a bar or a business card of a hooker. Sounds crazy? So would as resolution like the one just mentioned by Prax. Not taking a shot at you Prax, but the idea of that kind of resolution. I just think that it can create alot more problems than one might think. It leaves the church looking as if we are hypocritical....oh wait...are we hypocritical already? This is the same as if you were to advertise in a movie theatre. You reach people then tell them it is wrong to go to the movies. I agree that we can take a stand against some of the bad content, that I can agree on, but to legislate it like you have said. I do not think that would work.

You are quite wrong. You must not have really read the resolution carefully. What I posted does NOT say "Watching TV is a sin"...It does NOT say "we disapprove of watching TV"...in fact the Resolution de "criminalizes" having and watching TV.
What this resolution does is makes it clear that while we are not saying it is a sin to own or watch TV we as a group are still against unwholesome programming, video and movies. What I said legislated NOTHING at all. I don't think you really read what I posted lol
I also did not say in the resolution it is wrong to go to movies. sigh.....

Hey, Prax they just can't get it. I however, know actually what you are saying, and I believe even sinners would understand. The electronics, nor all the programming is sinful, of course there is plenty on the tube, on the web, in the mall, and on street that is, that is why believers must "separate the precious from the vile". If we are truly "dead with Christ" these things will not move us. A dead man is not hungry. How's that?
