We have had SEVERAL Altar Workers Training Seminars at my church. Unfortunately, the people that NEED the training never come, because, well......they don't think they are the people that need it!

I agree with ALL the previous posts. My husband is an incredible altar worker and he rarely touches anyone. He speaks slowly, clearly and QUIETLY to them (usually direcly into their ear) continually speaking encouraging words. I think it is his gifting. He doesn't do altar work much anymore, however, because he doesn't hear well and hearing aids only make the many and varied sounds around the altar LOUD and GARBLED!

I encourage your husband to stay in the altar. Can he not just turn the aid down and rely on previous experience as well as lip reading?

My mother wears hearing aids as well and she is an awesome pianist but because of feed back, increased lack of hearing she has limited her playing quite a bit. Its so unfortunate because she is such a blessing with her annointed playing.

I cannot stand when I see the laying on of hands become so physical that it changes the posture of the seeker. Makes me want to punch somebody!

I also seriously question the altar worker who rushes to tell the seeker what happened to them before they can even enjoy the experience. I've seen it announced in the pulpit before eyes are even open. ANy comments on that?
