Serious question: Are you stating it is right or wrong to disaffiliate w/ the intent of leaving the UPCI or are you merely trying to point out what you see as an inconsistency?

This thread has turned to the subject of affiliation...that's not the point. There are many licensed ministers that pastor non affiliated churches. We are talking about alienation.

We had a gang of school yard bullies running through our organization who were given pretty much free reign to say and do whatever they wanted.
Do a GOOGLE search on the "UPC" and the word "cult." In every example that the so-called "anti-cult" people cite of "abuse" within the UPC it is a case where some "conservative" took the "conservative" principles and got in trouble. This has been a source of constant embarassment to people in the UPC.
Not only has this faction continually abused the saints that God has placed in their care, but they have defied the Manual and our elected leaders and heaped scorn upon everyone who didn't follow in lock step with them.

I think in all fairness you should mention those liberals that were always quick to point out those legalistic Pharisee's that put folks in bondage.

Is it alienation to not fellowship those that do not hold the same standards you do, and yet still have fellowship with those that do??
See, while I am in agreement that a conservative should not force those things that are convictions upon those that do not have them, I also am against the libs that think they have to force the conservative to "accept their liberties". This could be looked at as the same spirit that the homosexuals have when they attempt to force acceptance of their lifestyle.

I ran with a "conservative" crowd so I guess I missed a lot of what the "liberals" were "always" doing.
But even today, when you want to hear something bad about the GS go to a "conservative" gathering. The same was true when the GS was NU and I'll never forget the blistering SC took (behind his back) from some GOB from Texas. SC a "compromiser?" That's what they called him, and they said it with venom.

UUUUHHHMMM.... Bro. Matthew sir, with all do respect, I do not like the t.v. thing. But haven't we always been the UNITED Pentecostal Church? Emphasis on united. Isn't it kind of unfair to liken your brethren who hasn't always agreed on everything as a homosexual? I think thats unfair.

"Same spirit?" Whoa, Matt. Someone preaching that "Christ has made you free..." is of the same spirit as a homosexual?

I was kind of wondering about that myself.
